Web FAQ

  • 1. How does the website redesign process work?
Your project will start off with Kick-Off meeting. This is where you meet your Account Manager, Content Director, and Designer(s). At this meeting, you’ll talk through the scope of work, goals, and have an in-depth design discussion. After the Kick-Off meeting your Designer will begin work - either a logo, mood board or homepage. From there, we will work through the design of the site before gathering content. Our Content Director will guide you through the content gathering process based off of your designs. Next, we’ll conduct an SEO Audit and go through the results with your team. After 80% of your content is gathered and designs are approved, we’ll begin development. Once your site is developed, we will train your team on how to update your new website! After you’ve been trained, we will set a launch window for your website. After launch, we’ll work with you to optimize your digital marketing strategy and grow your business.
  • 2. How much does a website cost?
Throughout your relationship with your Digital Strategist, they are constantly gathering information about your project to provide the most accurate estimate for your project. The cost depends on the amount of time used to design and custom develop your project. We offer business-specific products to help keep the cost as minimal as possible, but custom design and/or development work is billed accordingly. We’re happy to figure out the best plan to make your website work for you!
  • 3. What will my website be built on?
We build all of our websites on a Content Management System, also known as a CMS. This allows you to make updates to your site without having to know any sort of coding language. Depending on your business needs, we will make a recommendation for what will fit your needs best. Most of our clients tend to have websites built on FusionCMS because it’s a powerful yet extremely easy to use platform for our users. It ties in with many eCommerce systems as well to give you a full marketing platform. You can read more about it here.
  • 4. Do I have to be in Seattle to work with you?
While we love working with local businesses, we actually work with businesses all over the country and are happy to accommodate. Our team is happy to hop on conference calls, video chats, and do screen shares throughout the process so that we can interface with your team the best we can.
  • 5. How soon can my website launch?
Your launch date will depend on the complexity of your website. Our usual turnaround is between 3-6 months, depending on our client’s ability to provide feedback, content, and the overall complexity of the build. If you have a specific launch date in mind, your Account Manager will be happy to work with you in setting up a timeline to achieve it.
  • 6. Will my website be set-up for SEO?
All of our sites are built with best practices and without bloated code, optimizing it for Search Engines. We also like to include SEO Audits in all of our website projects. An SEO Audit consists of looking at your current keywords, SEO, and PPC strategy and seeing where you can improve based on traffic and content quality. The audit provides a plethora of information as well as installation onto your website and recommendations for strategy moving forward.
  • 7. Can I fix my old website instead of starting with a new one?
A website is more than just the physical appearance, it’s also the site architecture and the technology behind it, both of which may or may not be helping or hurting you in Google rankings and user experience. If you’re looking for just graphic updates or content updates that’s one thing, but if your site is not hitting industry benchmarks (like site speed, mobile responsiveness, content architecture, etc.), then it’s a good time to evaluate your options. Starting with a new website lets you talk about your business as it sits today but also where you’d like to be in the next several years. Modern websites have more functionality available to them to make updating and maintaining your website much easier in the future.
  • 8. I don’t want to use WordPress can I choose something else?
You’re in luck. We offer a risk-free guarantee. Before we build your new website, we’ll design a mockup of your homepage. We’ll design a layout in Photoshop first, that way you’ll get to see our initial designs within approximately ten days. This is your opportunity to give us feedback and if you really don’t like it, you don’t have to move forward. Best part is, this won’t cost you anything.
  • 9. I already have a website, how easy is it to change it?
If you already have a website. That’s great. This means we can build your new website whilst your other website is still live. Once we are ready to go live and you are happy with the new site we can then swap the old site for the new one. It can take as little as 10 minutes for the new website to be visible. This means you’ll barely even notice a dip in your traffic numbers.
  • 10. Do you only serve customers in Manchester?
Most of our clients are not based in Manchester. Although our HQ is, we serve clients and business owners all over the UK and we also have many international customers including USA, Switzerland, Canada and even Australia. The type of business we run means we can work with any business anywhere in the world
  • 11. Will you meet with me face to face?
No. All of our client meetings are done over Skype or via the phone. It’s rare that we NEED to meet people face to face. Technology allows us to do so much in a small space of time so we don’t believe face to face meetings are necessary. We are always happy to meet you in person if you really need us to but we’ll arrange a consultation price for travel and possible accommodation depending on the distance.
  • 12. Do you set up my Facebook, twitter page etc?
Typically not. Social media is not a part of the web design process. However, we are always looking for ways to make your life easier. If you’d like us to do this for you, we can arrange a package that suits you
  • 13. Will my website be mobile friendly?
Yes. Your website will be fully responsive and will look great on all devices. We don’t charge extra for this. It comes as standard.
  • 1. Will I have a main point of contact for my project?
Every project is assigned an Account Manager. Account Managers are assigned based on both experience and bandwidth, making sure you are getting the best possible experience. While you’ll be working with Designers, our Content Director, Marketing Strategists, Developers, and maybe even more, your Account Manager will always be there to be your main point of contact. The Account Managers job is to act as a liaison between your team and ours while making sure communication of timeline, next steps, and more is clear. They are always happy to answer any questions you may have throughout the process.
  • 2. Can efelle creative provide graphics that are relevant to my business?
Yes! efelle creative can use a combination of stock photography and images/graphics that relate to your business or industry to help create a professional design for your website. We’re also happy to provide creative direction and contact information for some amazing photographers.
  • 3. How will I know when “x” is due?
At the start of your project, your Account Manager will create a timeline for your project based on your goal launch and create milestones for each item. As time progresses, they will send reminders to your team, as well as adjust the timeline as needed.
  • 4. Can someone help me write content?
If you find yourself having difficulty writing your own content, we’re happy to put you in touch with a content strategist or copywriter. You can have someone help you for your entire site, or just a few pages - we’re happy to be flexible.
  • 5. Why do you require 80% of content before going into development?
Your content is a crucial part of your site, so having it ready before development helps our team better optimize and build your site around the content that will be there. Content is often the biggest bottleneck, so we like to be proactive in getting a majority of the content in place before we begin the final steps in the process.
  • 6. My designs are approved, why don’t I have a demo site yet?
Once your designs are approved, we wait for the 80% of the content (as we mentioned above) and then begin development. We have to begin building out the infrastructure first which is not necessarily visible. Similar to building a house, once you have approved designs, you must prepare the construction site, pour the foundation, and start framing the house. We do share a demo site once your website is almost finished so you can begin UA testing, training, and checking out your site.
  • 7. Will you train me on how to use my website?
Your Account Manager will walk through training on how to use your site as we approach launch. We wait until your site is almost complete so that you can learn to use the CMS and make updates on the backend of your actual website! We’ll also record this training so you can see it in the future.
  • 8. Do I actually need a website?
Yes. We will purchase the images for your website. We use stock image websites such as Depositphotos, Shutterstock and 123rf to buy professional images so that you don’t have to pay a photographer.
  • 9. Will you buy stock images for me?
No. If you have more customers than you can handle and don’t want anymore then you might not need a website. However if you want to expand the business, get more enquiries or become the go to person in your space then you should have a website.
  • 10. How long will it take to get to the first page of Google?
It depends. There’s no clear answer to this question as search engines change their requirements all the time. However, we have had clients get to the first page for their main keywords within 2 days of launching and we’ve had websites take 2–3 months for Google to show them on the first page. However, there is no guarantee you will ever get to the first page of Google for your main keywords, some of your competitors might have huge marketing budgets or have been there for years. For more info about ranking on the first page of Google, read our blog post here.
  • 11. Will you buy stock images for me?
Yes. We will purchase the images for your website. We use stock image websites such as Depositphotos, Shutterstock and 123rf to buy professional images so that you don’t have to pay a photographer.

Hosting FAQ

  • 1. Do I need hosting?
Yes. Hosting is like renting space on the internet. You’ll need to buy hosting otherwise people won’t be able to access your website.
  • 2. How much does hosting cost?
Hosting usually costs less than £100 per year. It can cost a lot more depending on your requirements. Hosting prices usually increase the more website visitors you have.
  • 3. Who hosts the website?
If we build your website, we will usually host it for you and you don’t need to do anything. We pay the hosting fee for the first year and we’ll send you an invoice once a year thereafter. Alternatively, you can host the website elsewhere and manage it yourself. It’s completely up to you.
  • 1. Will you buy the domain for me?
Of course. You’re buying a website from us. It’s the least we can do. As long as it’s available for purchase, we’ll buy it for you and pay for the first year. We’ll send you an annual invoice for the renewal along with the hosting fees. Obviously, if the domain name costs more than the average of £10-£20, then we’d have to discuss this with you!
  • 2. Who will own the domain?
You will own the domain. We will register the domain in your name and address and it belongs to you. This means you have ultimate control over it..

  • 1. Do you do SEO for my website when you build it?
It depends which package you choose. SEO is usually an ongoing commitment and will require continuous work. However, we do offer a package that will start you off on the right foot. The Digital Elite website plan includes basic on-page SEO for 10 pages. This means we’ll perform keyword research and optimise it for search engines.
  • 2. How much does SEO cost?
It can vary dramatically but our monthly SEO plans begin at £400+VAT per month. This is generally a starter plan for a local business with a moderate amount of competition. Some of our other clients pay over £1000+VAT per month for our SEO services. It really depends on how much work will be required and how much competition you have in your industry.
  • 3. How do I know if the SEO is working?
We track your rankings using our reliable software. We get updates everyday and we’ll be able to see what’s working and what isn’t. We’ll send you a monthly report so you can see your traffic numbers and rankings. Here are some of the recent rankings from our previous clients.
  • 4. Do you work with everyone?
